Lion's Sports Complex

Recreational opportunities include:
  • Baseball fields
  • Soccer fields
  • Walking trail

The Castroville Lions Club donated two city blocks to the City of Castroville in 1957. Lions Sports Complex was previously used as a football field for St. Louis Catholic High School. The land was given to the City with the stipulation it be used in perpetuity for sporting activities and events. Eagle Scout projects have included building a gateway and rebuilding the bleachers at the ball field.

Houston Square

Town square in the historic commercial district of the City. Houston Square was formerly used as a baseball diamond, a lighted softball field, and a football field by St. Louis Catholic High School in 1947. The Castro Garden Club, private donations, and the City of Castroville developed Houston Square in a beautification project.

September Square Park

September Square commemorates the founders of Castroville with a monument that was erected in 1931 by the Order of the Alhambra of San Antonio. Two monuments honor veterans of World War I and World War II. In September 1994, a State Historical Marker was placed in honor of Henri Castro during the sesquicentennial celebration. The American Legion Post 460 conducts patriotic services on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
