The Portal to Texas History
In 2002, the University of North Texas Libraries began planning The Portal to Texas History, a digital gateway to historical materials from private collectors and collaborative partners, including libraries, museums, archives, and other historical groups. The goal was to structure the Portal in a way that would ensure long-term sustainability. Every month, more than half a million people from around the world use The Portal to Texas History to discover historical treasures from more than 400 collaborative partners at museums, libraries, and archives across Texas. Castroville Public Library was generously awarded the Rescuing Texas History Project grant in 2017 to digitize eight local family history binders that included the genealogies of each family. The project took a year to complete and now is available for viewing at the link below. We hope that you enjoy it .
