It is the Castroville Animal Services and Code Compliance Department's mission to educate and enforce on a wide range of issues regarding the health, safety, and well-being of citizens and animals that reside within the City of Castroville.  


Service Hours and Emergency Response

Calls for Service, Adoptions, and Other Programs are accepted Monday- Friday 8am- 5pm during City hours of operation. For emergencies, please contact the Castroville Police department at 830-931-2222 and an on-call Animal Services Officer will be notified for response. 

Calls for service include:  

  • Stray dog pickups or capture.
  • Investigating Animal Bite Exposures, Animal Cruelty or Neglect, or other City Ordinance Code Violations.  
  • Loaning/Servicing of live traps for City Residents and relocation of healthy wildlife causing a nuisance or in harm's way. 
  • Removing Deceased Animals from roads and public areas.  
  • TNR (Trap Neuter Release) Services for stray cats within the city. *When funding allows.
  • Humanely euthanizing of sick or injured Animals.  
  • Containment and disposition for animals suspected to carry rabies.

Other Animal Control Agencies in Medina County

Animal Services of Castroville offers service for the residents of the City of Castroville. It is important to note that a call for service depends highly on your location where you are needing service. While we do not extend service outside of the city limits, we do coordinate with other agencies and will aid them if needed. These agencies operate shelters over their jurisdictions and are a great place to begin the search for a missing pet or adopt a pet that is in need of a good home.
